Starry smooth-hound recaptures until present

The tagging experiment started in 2011. We tagged about 1700 smooth hound sharks until present and have received over 60 recaptures so far! The smooth hounds are present in coastal waters in the Netherlands from June till mid October. During the winter season they mostly move south through the English Channel. Although 1 shark was recaptured in Scotland and one other in Stavanger, Norway. We received most recaptures from French and English commercial fisherman, fish markets and research institutes Cefas, IMARES and IFREMER, for which we are very grateful!
