ID card Sharks and Rays of the North Sea (A4)
The information on this ID-card has been worked out in cooperation with several marine fisheries institutes and organisations that work together on the protection of these rare species. Like the marine research institute IMARES, the North Sea Foundation, several commercial fisheries organisations and the Dutch Ministry of Economics, Agriculture and Innovation.
This card is being used by anglers, and also in school-classes, by commercial fisherman, fish markets, and for other identification and educational purposes.
The backpage of this ID-card gives a short explanation on how to identify these sharks and rays, and a short discription on how to handle these fishes when caught. Some of these sharks and rays are very rare and protected by fisheries law. A 'T' on this map means that the fish must be released alive and unharmed according to law, a 'R' on the map means that the fish needs to be reported.
